Los Angeles songwriter David Steinhart continues to build on his prolific career with his latest solo album titled, “Released”. With nearly 30 albums to his name as a solo artist and with the bands The Furious Seasons, Smart Brown Handbag, and Pop Art, Steinhart's extensive discography showcases his commitment to the craft. His enduring influence makes his work a compelling exploration for fans of well-crafted and thoughtful music. “Released” is a testament to his continued evolution as an artist.

Steinhart, who has been recording with his folk trio The Furious Seasons over the past decade, returns with his first solo effort since 2001’s album, “Clean”. “Released” features ten new songs of love, loss and hope and highlights his ongoing love of folk-tinged pop tunes, this time with lush full band arrangements and his customary rich lyrical imagery.

Produced by acclaimed, five-time Grammy winner Alfonso Rodenas, and performed by a group of talented musicians, Steinhart has crafted an album that nods to the albums of some of his favorite artists, Todd Rundgren, Harry Nilsson, Prefab Sprout and Elvis Costello. Steinhart’s voice navigates these songs with a crooner’s velvety touch. He is accompanied by the skilled playing of Paul Nelson on guitar, brother Jeff Steinhart on bass, William Gramling on keys, and Edoardo Tancredi on drums.

“There’s a melancholy tone, a sweet sadness, a masterful turn of phrase and the songwriting is as good as anything I have heard.”
—Samantha Simonds-Ronceros/Noho Arts District

"The richly detailed lyrics deserve a careful listen, David Steinhart’s lead vocals are excellent, and the acoustic guitar work is a treat. "
—The Morton Report

"With jazzy elements underpinning the folkie vibe, the well-worn writing comes from the heart and the performance comes from the soul. Hard hitting stuff that doesn't need to be over played to make it's point, it's a celebration of direct simplicity that connects over and over and over."
— Midwest Record

"Shimmering acoustic guitars and assured vocals all over the place, but above all there are some excellent melodies to wrap around, showing what being rooted into a sound and having experience within it really means when it is transferred into sound."

“Steinhart's musical style is soft, finely crafted, windswept pop. He sings and writes, warm, literate, sober, preoccupied folk pop, always well-crafted, and full of small, conspicuous, workmanlike extras and an aptitude for unpretentious, poppy hooks.”
